Nelson Mandela


Nelson Mandela was born at Qunu in South Africa on July 18th of 1918. His was challenged in his early life by what he had to learn in school. He lost his father when he was 9 years old in 1927, that affected him cause his father was his biggest influence in his life.
In his later life, he was the leader of the anti-aparthied, but he was convicted by the South African Courts charge him with sabotage for life. People were shock that he was in prison. He only spent 27 years in prison he was released on the 11th of February 1990. After he got out of prison he tried to each the goals that him and others set before in was put in prison.
After awhile he was elected the first black president of South Africa, thats was his biggest accompplishment in his life.
Nelson had six children and 2 wifes altogether, four of the children was from his first wife but (she passed away from aids) and 2 from the second wife.
He made a difference in alot of peoples life.

Harriet Tubman



Harriet Tubman was born in 1820 in Maryland and died March 10,1913.She was one out of 11 children.Harriet was born into slavery at the age of 11 she was a nursemaid.When she was born her birth name was Araminta and she was often called "minty".When she become an adult she changed her first name into Harriet.Later in life she got in a accident and got hit in the head.In 1844 she got married to a free black man.When she found work as a household servent she saved her money so she could return to help others escape.She led the underground railroad.The underground railroad was a secert network of houses where slaves from the south could be in the north for freedom.

Walt disney

Have you ever heared of the man who created disney movies and disney land.Well if you havent the man who created all that it was Walt Disney. Walt Disney was born in december 5,1901 in chicago the he moved to a farm with his family and his family was one of many who didint have alot of money. As adult he had moved to alot of places to work first illinios then kanssas then missousi and at last los angeles. As he grew up he created character like mickey mouse,goffy,plutoand more he also went to alot of states. Some thing he did is that he also created 101 dolmationsand all the disney characters. Everybody thought that the characters were really cool and intersting he got the thought of creating mickey mouse cause when he work in the studio mice would gather around his garbage can.



Eva Peron (Evita)


Background: Eva was born on May 7th,1919.her mother gave birth to Eva in rural poverty locataded in a small town in Los Todos Argentina.She had five older sibblings and they all lived with their mother in a one room shack. Eva was not sent to school because her mother sent her to work in the kitchens of the rich people. As you can see, Eva did not have a good chidhood as other kids did.
Later Life and Acomplishments: At the age of 16, Eva moved to Buenos Aires to start her career as an actress. She also starred on raidios and was a comedian for a while. In the year 1945, she met a minister of war named Juan Peron. A year later, they got married. Eva then helped her husband get elected as president. Victory was theirs because they won the election! Since she was married to Juan Peron, she became Juan Perons first lady. She was also the first female politician in Argentina.
What They Changed(did they change thoughts, ideas, beliefs and how?) Eva thought about the descamisados(shirtless)alot because they were very poor and homeless. She was able to get others to campaign with her to help the poor and to give women the rights to vote. Her high profile, beauty and her excitment to help the needy,excited the nation. In other words, Eva changed the view of many people because she taught them that women are just as smart as men and sometimes even more. She also taught them that every one should help each other.

Oprah Winfrey


Oprah Winfrey was born in Kosciusko,Mississippi.Oprah had a difficult childhood.Her mother was the only one who took care because her mother and father got separated.






When Oprah was six years old she moved to an inner city neighborhood in Milwaukee,Wisconsin with her mother who was less supportive and encouraging than her grandmother.At the age of thirteen Oprah ran away from home,when she was fourteen she came back pregnant,but her son died shortly after birth.



In 2004 Oprah and her team filmed an episode of her show entitled Oprah's Christmas kindness,in which Oprah and her best friend Gayel King her partner Stedman Graham and some crew members travelled to South America.




Although Oprah has continually changed the focus of her show since the mid-1990s her success has been as popularizing of the "tabloid talk show" genre and turning it into a thriving industry that has included Ricki Lake ,The Jenny Jones Show and The Jerry Springer show.

Martin Luther King Jr.



Background:




Martin Luther King Jr. was born in Atlanta Georgia. When he was a kid he sang at a church choir at the 1993 Atlanta premier of the movie "Gone With The Wind". He was baptised in Atlanta.






Later Life:Bold




When Martin Luther King was growing up he changed his birth name that was Micheal to Martin. At the age of 15 he graduated from school. When he was 35 he was the youngest man to receive the Nobel prize. WBoldhen he was notified of selection, he announced that he would turn over the prize money (54,123) to the further once of the civil rights movements






What They Changed:






Martin was famous for using non-violent resistance to overcome injustice, and he never got tired of trying to end segregation laws.






Summary:






When Martin Luther King was growing up he changed his name, his real name was was Micheal but he changed it to Martin. He lived through January 15, 1929 through April 4, 1968. But he died and was remembered by everyone because of the changes he made in the world. Thanks to him we are no longer dealing with segregation. Although not just thanks to him, but also thanks to other people.

Thomas Edison


Thomas Eidson was born on 2/11/1847 in Milan, Ohio. He died on 10/18/1931. His home was added to the register of historic places. His family was forced to move to Port Huron, Michagan. His family was very poor. when he was older he married 16 year old Mary Stitwell. Mary died of a brain tumor. After that Edison at the age of 39 married 20 year old Mina miller. she was the duaghter of inventor Lewis miller. Thomas Edison invented the electric, and electric power. He changed a huge thin in the world. if he gavep we might haveneve have had light and tv and much more. so Thomas Edison saved us from being without electricity. and we maight have never had compters. In memery of Thomas Edison they built a ship called USS Edison that was a gleaves class destroyer, In his honor in 1940.

Abraham Lincoln

Early Life
Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Hardin County, Kentucky. He was born in a modest family. Abraham had to work hard each and every day splitting logs and other manual labor. He also worked hard to excel in his studies on his free time.

Later Life
In Abrahams later life he was a lawyer. He was elected to the House of Representatives and tried to gain nomination for the Senate in 1858. Although he lost this election. Abrahams Lincoln's debating skills caused him to become well known within the Republican Party. This reputation caused him to be elected as republican nominee president in 1860.


Accomplishments
Abraham accomplishments were that he was widely regarded as one of Americas most influential and important presidents. As well as saving the union Lincoln was viewed as embodying the ideals of honesty and integrity.


Changes to the World
He freed the slaves because he didn’t feel it was right. Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation that said, freedom to all slaves in any state in the United States of America.

His name is Emiliano Zapata he lived on Anenecuilco,Morelos,Mexico he lived in Agugust 8,1879 to April 10,1919.He grew up on Anenecuilco,Morelos,Mexico his family was mestizos they had mainly Nahua ancestry with some spanish admixture.




Later Life


When he was older Zapata become a leading figure in the village of Anenecuilco where his family had lived for many generations.




Accomplishments


He won many war and nobody could bit him.Zapata is one of the most revered national heroes of Mexico.Emiliano

Alexander the Great

Childhood Life
Alexander the Great was born July 356 BC in the northern Greek kingdom of Macedonia. He was tutored by the great philosopher Aristotle. Alexander learned as much as he could about battle. He watched the tatics of his fathers army.

Later Life
When he was crowned king he killed every other heir including his infant brother. He soon went to war with Persia. After defeating the Persians he went to war with India and Afghanistan and gained another victory.

Accomplishments
He concurred all of the known world. Making one of the worlds most extensive empires. His army exceeded 40,000 men. Alexander changed the conduct of war and the nature of government.

What he changed
Despite his harsh ways Alexander was kind to each city he concurred. He wouldn't allow his soldiers to loot the city. He set free every city he captured.If they had a different religion he let them practice their beliefs. If they were slaves he gave them freedom. Due to drinking and womanizing he died at an early age of 32.

Rosa parks was born in february 4,1913 in tuskegee,alabama.when she was two she moved with her fathers parents in abbeville,alabama.then after a few months rosa's mom decided to live with her own parents in pine level.her parents owned a small farm and a better house in pine level.when rosa was two in a half her dad left them.then when she turned five and her brother sylvester was three he visited them for a while but then they never saw him again.untill she growed up.so she had to grow up on a farm.and when she was six or seven she started working for pay picking cotton at hudson plantation.rosa's first school was the same one that her mom attended.rosa had to leave high school because her mom could'nt pay her tuition.at miss whites school anylonger.rosa had to clean classrooms to pay her schooling.but then miss white had to close the school in 1928.

so far ninth grade rosa went to black school in alabama.when rosa was eighteen,a friend introduced her to raymond parks a twenty-eight year old barber.and rosa in 1932 when raymond and rosa got married.in 1943 she joins the NAACP and becomes secratery organizer,reasercher&historian.she worked with the man that became the local NAACP president.when rosa parks began to work on voter regestration.in 1945 she wrote out a copy of the whole exam ready for court and prove she was denied to vote.but by this time she recieved the voter regestration in the mail but she had to pay the poll tax every year untill she reached the age to vote on december 1,1955 rosa had been at work all day so she got on a bus it was'nt full but after a few stops the seats were taken.rosa,the man sitting next to her by the window the two women across the isle had to get up cause that was the law.but when they did'nt get up james blake said''move i need those seats''.no one moved.the three people in the row moved to the back rosa moved her legs out of the way so the man sitting next to her could get by the driver asked rosa are you going to get up and she said''no''.then the driver said ''then you are going to be arrested''.rosa just looked at the driver and said''you may''.she said quietly.about two houres later she was allowed to call home.her mom answerd and said''I'm in jail see if parks can come and get me out.
Rosa parks was honored they renamed the street she lived on during boycott rosa l parks bouvalard.in 1996 president clinton awarded rosa parks with a presidential medal.and some people often ask rosa parks what still needs to be done and she says.we all have to free our mindsof racism and belive in freedom and justice for all people of all races and all religous,everywhere in the world.in 1957 parks family moves to detroit michigan.in 1977 raymond parks dies of cancer and rosas brother sylvester mcCauley dies.and in 1979 rosas mother dieds.rosas mueseum and library opens in montgomery,alabama on corner where she refused to give up her bus seat in 1955 and in 2005 rosa parks dies in october 24, in her detroit home.

Galileo Galilei

Galileo Galilei was an important man.He was born Febuary 15,1642.He grew up in Florence,Italy.When he was older his parents regonized his intelligence and made sacrifices to have him educated.At age 17 he went to the university of Pisa and got a career in medicine.He decided he didnt want to do medicine and instead did mathmatics.After 3 years Galileo resigned and went to the university of Padua.Their he taught math .He spent the next 18 years in his interest in astronomy and mechanics.
LATER LIFE
In 1600 Galileo had his first daughter Virgina.1 year later in 1601 Galileo had his second daughter Livia.In 1606 Galileo had a son vincenzio.
Galileo made many discoveries .He invented the worlds first telescope.Galileo found out that saturn has a beautiful ring of clouds,the moon was not flat but had mountains and craters,jupitar had many moons,the earth was not in the center of the universe but the sun was.In 1623 he wanted to publish his work.His chuch forbid his teachings.In that same year a new pope came.The new pope didnt mind.So Galileo had all his work published.However the church attacked Galileos position.He soon was arrested and imprisoned for several months.He was convicted and forced to recent his beliefs.He spent his remaining years under house arrest.Still Galileo pursuied his discovers until he died in 1642.Galileo made many discoveries and died a memorable man.

Leonardo Da Vinci

Leonardo's child hood.
Leonardo Da Vinci grew up in Vinci,Italy.He was born in 1452 and died in 1519.Son of a florentice noble and peasant women.From an early age displayed his remarkable talents.In 1466 he moved to Florence. He enetered the workshop of Verrochio.Soon he developed an artistic sence which went far beyond his teachers style.

Accomplishments.
Leonardo's first work was called"Adoration of magi"commisioned by monks of San Donato a scopeto.In particular he introduced the themes of movement and drama.In 1482 Leonardo went to court of Ludovico sforza for 16 years in Milan.Where he branched out into other interest such as engineering and anatomy.Leonardo soon painted the"Madonna ont eh rocks and also the last supper.Soon he started the Mona Lisa.

Greatest accomplishment and when he died an where he traveled.
In 1499 after the french invasion Leonardo returned to Florence.He painted the fresco of anghari.The artwork was to exert tremendous influence over future artists.That is also the same time period he finished the Mona LIsa.The Mona lisa is a portrait of a wife of a floritine noble.1506-1510 Leonardo spent time in Milan with generous french king. In 1515 he traveled to Rome.In that same year he left to settle at the castle cloux. He died in 1519 leaving behind one of the greatest body of artistic and scientific works.
